StarDome Schools Competition - Institute of Astronomy - University Of Cambridge
As part of StarDome's continuing liaison with the professional astronomers at the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University, the department holds a Science-Art competition for local schools where they were asked to draw or paint various astronomy topics. The first prize winning entry wins their school a visit from StarDome Planetarium .
There were over 375 entries for 2006 and over 110 entries in 2007. The pictures were judged by the astronomers at the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University. All entries were to a very high Standard. Take a look at the children's pictures below
For 2007 A panel of six judges selected what they considered to be the best 9 entries. It was very hard judging! They tried to consider both how artistic the poster was, and also whether it had something original to say about the artist's view of the Universe.
Everyone in the department then cast their votes for the winner. The poster with the most votes was the overall winner, and there were two runners up.
